This project provides for the reconstruction of Waterford Road from 156th Street west to 170th Street as a four-lane roadway with left turn lanes including grading, storm sewer, and a new bridge. The paving will be portland cement concrete with two 25-foot wide paving sections and a 15-foot grass median. The project will also include the construction of a second bridge over Walnut Creek. The bridge will be built to ultimately provide for 4-lanes of traffic and a 10-foot wide sidewalk on the north and south sides. A trail connection under the bridge will also be provided on the west side of the creek. It is anticipated that this project will be completed in June 2019.
Waterford Road is currently open from 156th Street to 163rd Street. Waterford Road from west of 163rd Street to 170th Street including the intersection of 165th Street at Waterford Road is closed. Waterford Road is closed to all through traffic.
The contractor anticipates paving the eastbound lanes on Wednesday, April 17th, provided the weather cooperates. The westbound lanes are tentatively scheduled for the week of April 29th. Once the contractor has constructed the new four lanes and left turn lanes, which is anticipated to be around the middle of May, the inside lanes will open for traffic to access 170th Street while the outside lanes are closed to allow for the construction of sidewalks and trail. The contractor is working on constructing the sidewalks and trails at the east end of the project.
